Te Whare Marie Services

Te Whare Marie is a specialist Kaupapa Maori mental health service.  We use Maori models in a therapeutic environment.

We continuously work to include whanau in sustainable recovery from mental illness, combining Maori cultural concepts with Western clinical models of mental health care.

This may include the following:

  • Cultural therapy, including wairua work
  • Treatment planning and monitoring of mental state
  • Monitoring of risk
  • Liaison with other mental health services for example Te Whare o Matairangi (acute adult inpatient unit), Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team.
  • Referral to other support services as required.

Te Whare Marie comprises of two teams:

  • Tamariki, Rangatahi me o Ratou Whanau (0-19 years)
  • Pakeke me Kaumatua Whanau (20-65 years)

Our service coverage extends from Peka Peka Road (just north of Waikanae) to Wellington South.  Hutt Valley has its own services provided by Hutt Valley District Health Board (phone 570-9801 Fax 570-9004).

Our hours are from 8.30 am-5.00 pm Monday to Friday.  We provide our services free of charge.

  • Community Consultant Liaison
